On Monday, “Megyn Kelly Today” made it’s debut on NBC. The network has really been hyping the show and the host. For her first show Kelly chose a young child-like pink blouse with a bow…who is she trying to fool?
Kelly started the show relaying her war stories of how she began in prime time and landed on a morning show. She got all teary when she spoke of her late father, hoping to see a sign from him to decide what to do with her life.
Kelly’s memoir, “Settle For More,” was pushed on the audience quite a few times. She bragged that her husband, Douglas Brunt, was in the audience for support, which Kelly claimed was so unusual because he’s such a private person. Brunt, however has appeared on the Today Show many times plugging his wife’s show in the last few months.
When Kelly tried primetime with “Megyn Kelly Tonight,” it tanked miserably losing the ratings war to reruns of CBS “60 Minutes” and ABC “America’s Funniest Home Videos.”
It certainly seemed like Kelly was a bit out of her league hosting a morning show as she said, “We don’t know what’s going to happen. It will get a little crazy.”
Trying to reel in viewers for her new show, an ad was aired during Sunday Night Football, which had Megyn kicking high into the air, similar to one performed by Sally O’Mally character on “Saturday Night Live.”
Kelly’s first guest were the ultra-liberal, Trump-hating actors from “Will & Grace,” Debra Messing, Eric McCormack, Megan Mullally and Sean Hayes. “Will & Grace” is returning to television and the original cast is reviving their roles.
Kelly was obviously uncomfortable and awkward when speaking to a fan of “Will & Grace” and said, “I don’t know about the lawyer thing…But the gay thing is going to work out great.”
