Houston TX – New Years Eve Shooter Arrest Details

Yet another mass shooting seems to have been stopped, this one apparently set to occur in the country’s 4th largest city, home to around 2.3 million Americans, Houston, Tex.

According to Houston police reports, a man was arrested after they found a stockpile of guns in his room on the top floor of the Hyatt Regency hotel, which is located on Louisiana Street.

The discovery of this man and his weapons occurred due to his encounter with an off-duty Houston Police Department officer, who was concerned when he noticed the man acting erratically and belligerently.

One of the hotel rooms a the Hyatt Regency on Louisiana Street in Houston, Tex.

At around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, the police officer at the hotel called for backup after failed efforts to arrest the man on charges of intoxication and trespassing. It wasn’t until help arrived that police saw the frightening amounts of arms and ammunition that he had warehoused in his hotel room.

Lt. Gordon Macintosh, who is with the Houston police, explained to media that the man was, ultimately, arrested for unlawfully carrying a weapon, and for trespassing. What was truly concerning, however, was the AR-15, the shotgun, a handgun, and loads of ammunition that was found in his room.

The fact that this was found on New Years Eve, as the Hyatt was preparing its own celebration, complete with a 50,000 balloon drop, makes this discovery just that much more concerning. With the 307 mass shootings that occurred in the USA in 2017, and with one of them, in Las Vegas, Nev., killing 58, which is more Americans than any in history, this sort of situation must always be taken extremely seriously.

Great work on the part of the Houston police for acting quickly and decisively to save us from what might have been yet another tragedy at the hands of someone who wanted to harm innocent Americans.
